Hodnocení vývoje a predikce budoucího vývoje produkce a cen polyolefinů

Abstract:

Během posledních tří let se stalo mnoho bezprecedentních událostí, které významně ovlivnily celý svět. V této práci bylo v souvislostech řešeno několik aktuálních témat, jako vliv koronavirové pandemie na cenu ropy Brent, na cenu plastu v podobě polyolefinů, porovnání cenových trendů ropných produktů v různých krizových obdobích od roku 2006 po současnost, včetně války na Ukrajině, a byla zde také stanovena predikce cenového vývoje ropných produktů polyolefinů pomocí umělé inteligence. Konkrétně byly v praktické části práce použity následující výzkumné metody: regrese časových řad v rámci neuronových sítí ANS (Automated network search), korelační analýza a regresní analýza. Neuronové sítě potvrdily významný vliv koronavirové pandemie na cenu ropy Brent. Korelační analýza prokázala dlouhodobě srovnatelný trend v cenovém vývoji ropy Brent a polyolefinů, čímž se potvrzuje významný vliv nemoci COVID-19 také na cenu polyetylenu a polypropylenu. Regresní analýza časových řad zjistila odlišnost cenových trendů polyolefinů v krizových obdobích. Na základě výsledků realizovaného výzkumu je možné konstatovat, že hospodářský výkyv v době Velké recese neměl na cenu polyolefinů a ropy tak významný vliv jako pandemie virového onemocnění nebo válečný konflikt týkající se důležitého ropného exportéra. Pro praxi je nejpřínosnějším výsledkem této práce predikce cenového vývoje polyolefinů. Modul neuronových sítí ANS ve všech vygenerovaných variantách předpověděl do konce roku 2023 klesající trend ceny polypropylenu i polyetylenu. Provedený cenový průzkum týkající se polyolefinů je ojedinělou studií s praktickým přínosem pro podniky vyrábějící nejžádanější materiál na planetě, plast. Analýza a predikce cenového vývoje zkoumaných komodit může být nápomocná při strategickém posouzení a následném investičním rozhodnutí. V oblasti budoucího vývoje produkce polyolefinů práce zmiňuje témata udržitelnosti a cirkulární ekonomiky související s dekarbonizací, rozvojem obnovitelné energie, využitím obnovitelných zdrojů, mechanickou a chemickou recyklací plastů. Limitujícím faktorem provedeného výzkumu je stále trvající válečný konflikt na Ukrajině, kdy trh s ropou citlivě reaguje na politické konflikty a stává se těžko kontrolovatelný a predikovatelný.

Abstract:

Many unprecedented incidents happened during last three years that significantly affected the entire world. In this work, several current topics were addressed in the context, such as the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on the price of Brent oil, on the price of plastic in the form of polyolefins, a comparison of the price trends of oil products in various crisis periods from 2006 to the present, including the war in Ukraine, and was here also determined the prediction of the price development of petroleum products polyolefins using artificial intelligence. Specifically, the following research methods were used in the practical part of the work: time series regression within neural networks ANS (Automated network search), correlation analysis and regression analysis. Neural networks have confirmed the significant impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the price of Brent oil. The correlation analysis showed a long-term comparable trend in the price development of Brent oil and polyolefins, which confirms the significant impact of the COVID-19 disease also on the price of polyethylene and polypropylene. Regression analysis of time series found differences in price trends of polyolefins in crisis periods. Based on the results of the research, it is possible to state that the economic fluctuation during the Great Recession did not have as significant effect on the price of polyolefins and oil as a pandemic of a viral disease or a war conflict involving an important oil exporter. For practice, the most beneficial result of this work is the prediction of the price development of polyolefins. The ANS neural network module in all generated variants predicted a downward trend in both polypropylene and polyethylene prices by the end of 2023. The polyolefin pricing research conducted is a unique study with practical benefits for businesses producing the most in-demand material on the planet, plastic. Analysis and prediction of the price development of the examined commodities can be helpful in strategic assessment and subsequent investment decisions. In the field of future development of polyolefin production, the thesis mentions the topics of sustainability and circular economy related to decarbonization, development of renewable energy, use of renewable resources, mechanical and chemical recycling of plastics. The limiting factor of the conducted research is the ongoing war conflict in Ukraine, when the oil market reacts sensitively to political conflicts and becomes difficult to control and predict.
