Social Support for Seniors in Difficult Situations ? Implications for Social Work

Abstract:

Disertační práce s názvem Sociální opora seniorů v obtížných situacích - implikace pro sociální práci měla za cíl analyzovat a popsat vybrané dimenze sociální opory seniorů v obtížných situacích a to v závislosti na typu jejich domácnosti. Teoretickým východiskem disertační práce je teorie sociální opory. Byla formulována hlavní výzkumná otázka HVO: "Jaké dimenze sociální opory a v jaké míře jsou seniorům ve vybraných obtížných situacích k dispozici v závislosti na typu jejich domácnosti?" K zodpovězení hlavní výzkumné otázky byla využita smíšená metoda výzkumu (v originále "Mixed Methods Research") s využitím "Explanatory Design". Podle modelu "Explanatory Design", výzkum začal kvantitativním výzkumem, jehož cílem bylo zjistit, zda existuje souvislost mezi typem domácnosti seniorů a vybranými dimenzemi sociální opory. V rámci kvantitativního výzkumu byla využita sekundární analýza výzkumu Sociální sítě (ISSP, 2001) a sekundární analýza Generations and Gender Survey Czech Republic (GGS, 2005). Z výsledku kvantitativního výzkumu jsme v druhé fázi výzkumu hledali odpověď na dílčí výzkumné otázky s využitím metody kvalitativní obsahové analýzy (v originále "Qualitative Content Analysis") podle autorky Schreier (2012), která umožila detailněji porozumět zkoumanému jevu - sociální opoře seniorů v obtížných situacích.

Abstract:

The dissertation Social support of seniors in difficult situations - implications for social work was aimed to describe and understand the social support of seniors in selected difficult situations of the seniors depending on the type of their household. The theoretical basis of the dissertation is the theory of social support. The main research question was formulated HVO: "What are dimensions of social support and to what extent are for seniors, according to their opinions available, depending on the type of households?" Mixed Methods Research using the Explanatory Design model began with first phase quantitative research to determine whether there is a dependency between the type of households of the seniors and selected dimensions of social support. The quantitative research used secondary analysis of the study by Sociální sítě (ISSP, 2001) and Generation and Gender Survey Czech Republic (GGS, 2005). From the results of the quantitative research we searched in the second phase of the qualitative research method of qualitative content analysis by author Schreier (2012) answer for partial research questions. Qualitative content analysis allows us to search for a more detailed understanding of the phenomenon - social support of seniors in difficult situations.
