Comparison of retail environment between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce srovnává maloobchodní prostředí dvou evropských zemí – České republiky a Spojeného Království Velké Británie a Severního Irska (dále jen Velké Británie). Hlavním cílem práce je tato prostředí představit a následně je porovnat. V práci jsou srovnávány největší maloobchodní řetězce na českém a britském trhu, ale také česká a britská nákupní centra. Dalším cílem práce je zjistit, jaké jsou preference návštěvníků nákupních center a jak se liší pohled českých a britských zákazníků na řetězce Tesco a Marks & Spencer pomocí vlastního výzkumu. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V první kapitole jsou představeny základní pojmy maloobchodní problematiky a ty jsou nadále uvedeny do vzájemných souvislostí. Ve druhé kapitole jsou představena a porovnána maloobchodní prostředí České republiky a Velké Británie. Třetí a čtvrtá kapitola jsou věnovány praktické části – výzkumu, který zjišťuje nákupní chování českých a britských spotřebitelů. Pátá kapitola představuje návrhy a doporučení vyplývající se zjištěných skutečností. Závěr obsahuje celkové shrnutí maloobchodní problematiky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis compares the retail environment of two European countries – the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The aim of this thesis is to present the retail environment in these countries and then to compare it. The thesis compares the largest retail chains within the Czech and British markets, also it compares Czech and British shopping centres. Another objective of this thesis is to find out the consumer preferences in visiting shopping centres and how Czech and British customers perceive Tesco and Marks & Spencer shops using on my own research.The bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. In the first chapter, the basic concepts of retail are presented, and key terms continue to be interrelated. The second chapter deals with and compares the retail environment of the Czech Republic and Great Britain. The third and fourth chapters are devoted to the practical part – the research that identifies shopping behaviour of Czech and British consumers. The fifth chapter presents proposals and recommendations resulting from the gathered facts. The conclusion contains a summary of retail issues.
