Minority policy in Slovakia

Abstract:

The aim of presented diploma thesis is to examine the position of hungarian national minority within slovak society and the changes of this position from the year 1989 until recently. The position examined was devided into three dimensions: cultural, civic-political and socio-economical one. In the first part, the theoretical conceptions as well as specifics of minority research in the conditions of Central- and Eastern Europe are introduced. The second part of thesis is the aplication of the theoretical concept; the position of hungarian minority is examined in all the dimensions from the year 1898 until present.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca si kladie za cieľ preskúmať pozíciu maďarskej minority v slovenskej spoločnosti a zmeny v jej postavení od roku 1989 do súčasnosti, a to v troch rovinách: kultúrnej, občiansko-politickej a socio-ekonomickej. V prvej časti práce sú skúmané teoretické koncepty zamerané na integráciu minorít. Taktiež sú predstavené špecifiká, ktoré je vhodné brať do úvahy pri štúdiu postavenia národnostných menšín v krajinách strednej a východnej Európy. V aplikačnej časti je postupne v rámci každej z troch rovín skúmaný vývoj pozície maďarskej minority od roku 1989 do súčasnosti.
