Eating Disorder Health Literacy in Adolescents

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je Informovanost adolescentů o poruchách příjmu potravy. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na mentální anorexii, mentální bulimii, dotýká se i nespecifických a nových typů poruch příjmu potravy. Dále se zabývá historickým vývojem poruch příjmu potravy, příčinami jejich vzniku, léčbou a důsledky na somatický stav. Pozornost je věnována také prevenci poruch příjmu potravy a epidemiologickým aspektům. Praktická část prezentuje výsledky dotazníkového šetření zaměřeného na znalosti studentů Střední zdravotnické školy ve městě Mělník o poruchách příjmu potravy. Současně byly mapovány stravovací zvyklosti studentů, tedy jak často se denně stravují, jaké preferují potraviny, dále jaký mají vztah ke svému tělu a z jakého zdroje jsou studenti nejvíce informováni o této problematice.

Abstract:

My bachelor's thesis is focused on various eating disorders and tries to identify how well-informed adolescents are, regarding this issue. The theoretical part focuses mainly on mental anorexia, bulimia but also other, unspecified types of eating disorders. Furthermore, it shows the historical development of various types of eating disorders, tries to identify where these originated from, how to possibly cure them and shows their impact on the physical well-being. The thesis also deals with possible prevention of various eating disorders and their epidemiological aspects. The practical part of the thesis presents the results of a survey, conducted with students of the Medical college in the city of Mělník. Its main purpose was to identify the level of knowledge of the students and adolescents regarding eating disorders. At the same time, it tries to map their eating habits, identify how often they eat and what their preferred types of food are. The study also tries to identify the main source of information adolescents use to learn about the issues regarding eating disorders and see, how these adolescents view their own bodies.
