Operational risk in the insurance business

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá operačním rizikem v činnosti pojišťovny. Nejprve vysvětluje samotný pojem rizika a poté rozvádí rozdělení rizik, kterým pojišťovna při vykonávání své činnosti čelí, včetně pozice operačního rizika a jeho podrobnějšího vysvětlení. Popisuje současnou právní úpravu oblasti řízení rizik a věnuje se obsahu směrnice Solvency II včetně procesu jejího zavedení do praxe, srovnání s její předchozí verzí a regulací pro oblast bankovnictví. Zmiňuje také dopady implementace této směrnice na pojišťovny v oblasti řízení operačního rizika a následně podrobně popisuje proces řízení operačního rizika v pojišťovně pusobící na českém pojistném trhu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with operational risk in activities of the insurance company. Firstly explains the meaning of the risk and then describes the distribution of risks which the insurance company has to face to, the position of the operational risk and its proper explanation. It characterizes actual legislative regulation of the field of risk management and deals with the norm Solvency II, the process of its implementation, the comparison of its last version and the version for banking sector. It mentions also impacts of Solvency II implementation on insurance companies in the field of operational risk management and describes the whole process of risk management in the insurance company on the czech insurance market in detail.
