Usage of remote sensing methods for analysing vegetation changes in the region of the High Tatra Mountains

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou vývoje vegetace v oblasti Vysokých Tater pomocí metod dálkového průzkumu Země. K tomuto účelu byla použita kombinace volně dostupných satelitních dat družic Landsat a Sentinel-2 a ortofota. Data dálkového průzkumu jsou doplněna historickým mapováním. Pro zpracování dat byly použity různé metody, včetně řízené a neřízené klasifikace, deep learningu a ruční vektorizace. Rešeršní část obsahuje relevantní zdroje dat pro dosažení cílů této práce a popis důležitých aspektů dálkového průzkumu Země, jako jsou principy fungování sběru dat, proces jejich zpracování a historie oboru. Výsledky analýzy jsou zpracovány do časově navazujících mapových výstupů, zobrazující vývoj rozšíření lesních porostů ve sledované oblasti.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of the development of vegetation in the High Tatras area using remote sensing methods. For this purpose, a combination of freely available Landsat and Sentinel-2 satellite data and orthophoto was used. Remote sensing data is complemented by historical mapping. Various methods were used to process the data, including supervised and unsupervised classification, deep learning, and manual vectorization. The research part contains relevant data sources for achieving the goals of this work and a description of important aspects of remote sensing, such as the principles of data collection, the process of their processing and the history of the field. The results of the analysis are processed into time related map outputs, showing the development of the expansion of forest stands in the monitored area.
