The thesis The Representation of Motherhood in Selected Works by Viktoria Hanišová focuses on the relationships between mothers and daughters in the books Anežka and Hou-bařka, which are not idyllic in either case; mothers often think more about their own comfort than about the psychological development of their daughters, which creates an unbridgeable gap between them.
