Inclusion and educational opportunities for students with autism spectrum disorder in secondary schools

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci se věnuji vzdělávání žáků s poruchou autistického spektra na středních školách. Cílem teoretické části bakalářské práce je nastínit historii této poruchy, popsat vnímání této poruchy od jejího prvního záchytu, po současnost. Charakterizovat znaky, deficity v chování, typické projevy a etiologii poruch autistického spektra. Dále bude v práci zmíněna výchova a vzdělávání jedinců s poruchou autistického spektra, zaměřím se na legislativní rámec této problematiky a možnosti vzdělávání žáků s touto poruchou na středních školách. V práci definuji pojem inkluze a integrace na střední škole. Popíši zde podpůrné opatření a doporučené přístupy k těmto žákům. K dosažení těchto cílů použiji odborné literární a internetové zdroje, legislativu a zákony, které analyzuji a syntetizuji. Cílem praktické části bakalářské práce je zjistit, jak vnímají zákonní zástupci žáků s poruchou autistického spektra (PAS) vzdělávání svých dětí na středních školách. Zaměřena je na pohled a vnímání rodičů v oblasti inkluze a integrace, hodnocení podpůrného opatření asistenta pedagoga, na zkušenosti s individuálně vzdělávacím plánem a věnuji se také komunikaci mezi rodičem a školou v oblasti vzdělávání a výchovy. Důležitou otázkou pak je, jestli střední škola dokáže žáky s poruchou autistického spektra připravit na další vzdělávání na vysoké škole nebo zaměstnání. Na tyto otázky je odpovězeno deskriptivní statistickou analýzou dotazníkových dat. Zkoumaným vzorkem jsou rodiče žáků s poruchou autistického spektra.

Abstract:

In my bachetor’s thesis, I focus on the education of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at secondary schools. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to outline the history of this disorder, describe the perception of this disorder from its first detection to the present. It characterizes the signs, behavioral deficits, typical manifestations, and etiology of autism spectrum disorders. The thesis will also mention the upbringing and education of individuals with autism spectrum disorder, focusing on the legislative framework of this issue and the possibilities of educating students with this disorder at secondary schools. I define the concept of incusion and integration at secondary school. I will describe here the supportive measures and recommended approaches to these students. To achieve these goals, I will use professional literature and internet sources, legislation and laws, which I analyze and synthesize. The aim of the practical part of the bachelor’s thesis is to find out how legal guardians of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) perceive the education of their children at secondary schools. It is focused on the perspective and perception of parents in the area of inclusion and integration, the evaluation of the supportive measure of a teaching assistant, experiences with an individual educational plan, and also deals with communication between the parent and the school in the area of educiation and upbringing. An important question is whether the secondary school can prepare students with autism spectrum disorder for further education at university or employment. These questions are answered by descriptive statistical analysis of questionnaire data. The examined sample consists of parents of students with autism spectrum disorder.
