Language and Style of The Dramas by Roman Sikora

Abstract:

Anotace Téma této magisterské diplomové práce tvoří jazyk a styl vybraných děl českého dramatika, novináře a kritika Romana Sikory. Její hlavní cíl představuje charakteristika výrazových prostředků a autorského stylu tohoto dramatika. Praktická část je zaměřena na specifika stylu Sikorových dramatických textů. Jádro práce reprezentuje podrobná analýza šesti vybraných her – Vlci, Smetení Antigony, Opory společnost, Jitro kouzelníků, Zpověď masochisty, Pohřbívání, která jsou považována za Sikorova nejznámější díla, o čemž svědčí i množství jazyků, do kterých byla přeložena, a velký počet jejich inscenací. Krátce je představen i život a dílo Romana Sikory. Všech těchto šest her tvoří součást výboru Sikorova díla, který uspořádal kolektiv editorů v čele s Liborem Vodičkou roku 2016, s názvem Labyrint světa a ráj biče. Jejich analýza je orientována na výrazové prostředky, kompozici a rovinu textovou. V závěru práce dojde k zobecnění poznatků z praktické části.

Abstract:

Annotation The topic of this master's thesis constitutes the language and style of selected works by Czech dramatist, journalist and critic Roman Sikora. The characteristic of the author's expression means and dramatist's style constitutes the main goal of this thesis. The practical part is focused more on the specific style of Sikora’s dramatic texts. The core of the thesis represents a detailed analysis of six selected games – Vlci (Wolves), Smetení Antigony (The Wipe Out of Antigona), Opory společnosti (Pillars of Society), Jitro kouzelníků (The Morning of The Magicians), Zpověď masochisty (The Confession of The Masochist), Pohřbívání (Burials), which are considered as Sikora's best known works, as proved by the amount of languages in which they were translated, and a high number of their productions. The life and the work of this author is introduced briefly too. All these six dramas constitute a part of Sikora's work, organized by a team of editors headed by Libor Vodička in 2016 and called Labyrint světa a ráj biče (Labyrinth of the World and Paradise of the Whip). Their analysis is oriented on the expression means, the composition and the text level. At the end of the thesis, the findings from the practical part will be generalized.
