Preparedness of Teachers in Terms of Implementing Digital Technologies in Primary Education

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce se věnuje implementaci digitálních technologií do výuky a zejména na připravenost učitelů s nimi pracovat. Začleňování moderních technologií do vyučování zůstává nadále velmi diskutovaným a aktuálním tématem, jelikož digitální pomůcky otevírají nové možnosti vzdělávání. Práce nejprve sumarizuje poznatky o digitálních technologií v holistickém pojetí digitálních kompetencí, ukotvuje jejich stále častější výskyt ve strategických dokumentech České republiky a konečně také taxativně analyzuje hlavní faktory ovlivňující připravenost učitelů na integraci těchto pokročilých nástrojů do výuky. V návaznosti na rozbor teoretických poznatků je představeno výzkumné šetření mezi učiteli 1. stupně základních škol. Výzkum, realizovaný na vzorku 153 respondentů s využitím dotazníku odhaluje, že úroveň připravenosti mezi učiteli je poměrně rozdílná. Ačkoliv převažují učitelé, kteří si uvědomují důležitost práce s moderními technologiemi, existují i tací, kteří vnímají mnohé nedostatky ať vnější, jako například nedostatečná podpora ze strany školy či zastaralé vybavení, anebo vnitřní, spočívající v nedostatečné motivaci dalšího osobnostního rozvoje.

Abstract:

The presented diploma thesis is devoted to the implementation of digital technologies in teaching and, in particular, to the readiness of teachers to work with them. The integration of modern technologies into teaching remains a highly discussed and crucial topic, as digital aids open up new educational opportunities. The thesis first summarizes knowledge about digital technologies in a holistic concept of digital competences, acquaints us with their increasingly frequent occurrence in the strategic documents for the Czech Republic education, and finally, also comprehensively analyzes the main factors influencing the readiness of teachers to integrate these advanced tools into teaching. As a follow-up to the analysis of theoretical findings, a research survey among primary school teachers is presented. The research, carried out on a sample of 153 respondents using a questionnaire, reveals that the level of readiness among teachers is quite different. Although the majority of teachers is aware of the importance of working with modern technologies, there are also those who perceive many shortcomings, either external, such as insufficient support from the school management or outdated equipment; or internal, consisting in insufficient motivation for further personal development.
