Cílem diplomové práce je popsat a zmapovat historii, současnost a nastínit budoucí vývoj evropské měny v současné dluhové krizi v eurozóně. Práce je rozdělena do pěti hlavních částí. V první kapitole je popsána cesta, která vedla k přijetí jednotné evropské měny. Druhá část práce se snaží zmapovat historii evropské měny v datech.
