Intertextuality in the works of Pavel Čech

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá intertextuálními odkazy v dílech Pavla Čecha. Představuje nejprve autora a jeho rozsáhlou tvorbu. Poté poskytuje základní přehled vývoje pojmu intertextualita. Na oddíl, v němž je představen složitý a mnohovrstevnatý fikční svět Pavla Čecha, navazuje část zabývající se konkrétními intertextuálními odkazy. Tyto odkazy jsou rozděleny podle toho, zda odkazují na Čechovy práce, nebo na díla jiných autorů, a také podle toho, zda jsou vizuální či textové. Popsané intertextuální odkazy jsou zařazeny do kontextu původních děl. Závěr práce pak klade otázku, zda je pro porozumění Čechovým dílům třeba identifikovat všechny odkazy. Práce také dospívá k poznatku, že použití odkazů a další Čechovy postupy značí, že jeho knihy nejsou určeny pouze dětským čtenářům, ač tak na první pohled mohou působit.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with intertextual references in Pavel Čech’s work. First, the thesis introduces the author and his extensive work. Then it presents a review of the evolution of intertextuality as a term. The part introducing Pavel Čech’s fictional world is followed by a part dealing with his specific intertextual references. These references are divided into groups according to their nature – whether the reference is to Čech’s own work or other authors’ work and whether it is visual or textual. Described intertextual references are then put in the context of the original work. The conclusion brings a question: Is it necessary to identify all the references in order to understand Čech’s work? The thesis finds that using references among other processes suggests that his books are not destined solely for children readers, though it may appear so at first.
