Coping Strategies and their Measurement in Relation to Personality Characteristics

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahem mezi osobnostními charakteristikami v pojetí Jungovy typologie a výběrem zvládacích strategií. K výzkumu byly použity metody MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator, zkoumající rozložení jednotlivých psychologických funkcí u člověka) a SVF-78 (Streßverarbeitungsfragebogen, zkoumající různé zvládací strategie). V teoretické části byly vymezeny pojmy relevantní pro problematiku zvládání a dále zde byly charakterizovány použité metody. Ve výzkumné části bylo na základě teoretických poznatků stanoveno několik hypotéz ohledně existence vztahů mezi osobnostními charakteristikami a zvládacími strategiemi. Hypotézy byly ověřovány prostřednictvím korelační analýzy. Výzkumný vzorek byl tvořen 197 studenty Masarykovy univerzity ve věku 19 až 30 let. V rámci práce byly diskutovány nejenom zjištěné výsledky ohledně možných souvislostí mezi proměnnými, ale také psychometrické vlastnosti dotazníků.

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis deals with a relationship between personality characteristics in Jung’s typology concept and the choice of coping strategies. MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator, examining distribution of particular psychological functions of a person) and SVF-78 (Streßverarbeitungsfragebogen, examining different coping strategies) methods were used in the research. In the theoretical part, concepts relevant for the issue of coping were defined and applied methods were characterized. In the research part, several hypotheses were set, based on the theoretical findings, which deal with the existence of relationships between personality characteristics and coping strategies. Hypotheses were verified through correlation analyses. Research sample was made up of 197 students of Masaryk University at the age of 19 to 30. Not only the findings dealing with possible connection between variables, but also psychometric characteristics of the questionnaires were discussed in the thesis.
