Treatment programs for convicts within the Czech prison system

Abstract:

Tato práce slouží k přiblížení a pochopení programů zacházení s odsouzenými v rámci českého vězeňství. Na úvod seznamuje čtenáře s obecnými informacemi o Vězeňské službě České republiky. Následuje seznámení s programy zacházení včetně vysvětlení jednotlivých aktivit, které jsou těchto programů součástí. Nejdůležitější část se zabývá programy zacházení v konkrétní věznici. Tato část obsahuje analýzu, která se snaží najít odpověď na hlavní otázku práce, zda jsou programy zacházení s odsouzenými účinné s ohledem na průběh resocializace a zda vedou ke snížení možné recidivy rizika.

Abstract:

This thesis serves to understand the treatment programs for convicts within the Czech prison system. Initially, it introduces the readers with general information about Prison Service of the Czech Republic. This chapter is followed by acquainting with treatment programs including an explanation of individual activities, which are part of these programs. The most important part deals with treatment programs in specific prison. This part contains an analysis that tries to find an answer to the main question of the thesis whether the treatment programs for convicts are effective in terms of resocialization and whether they reduce the risk of recurrence.
