Production system of West End theatres in London

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá produkčním systém divadel v Londýně, konkrétně ve čtvrti West End. Na úvod popisuje specifické znaky Londýna jako hlavního města a kulturní metropole, dále se zaměřuje na historický kontext divadla v hlavním městě a podrobněji popisuje minulost a současnost čtvrti West End. V konkrétním pojetí pojednává o Arts Council England a jeho principech fungování, dále o financování kulturních institucí a divadel z hlediska historického i současného a také o získávání práv a licencování v divadle.

Abstract:

Thesis deals with the production system of theatres in London and West End in particular. As an introduction it describes specific aspects of London as a capital city and cultural metropolis, furthermore it explains historical concept of theatres in a capital city and focusing more detailed West End’s past and present. In particular concept it deals with Arts Council England principles, financing system in the past and current situation from the general point of view as well as concrete. Moreover it brings up a topic of rights acquisition, copyrights and licensing.
