The Issue of Palliative Care from the Nurse's Perspective

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem „Problematika paliativní péče z pohledu sestry“ je rozdělena do dvou částí. V počátku se v teoretické části věnuje definici paliativní péče, vzniku a vývoji paliativní péče, základním aspektům a formám paliativní péče. Další kapitola se věnuje hospici, formám hospicové péče a hospicům v České republice. V další kapitole je probírána problematika smrti a umírání, obsahuje období umírání a jeho fáze, dále obsahuje i potřeby umírajících pacientů. Následující kapitola se věnuje fázím přijetí závažné diagnózy dle Elisabeth Kübler-Rossové. A poslední kapitola je věnována komunikaci s vážně nemocnými a umírajícími pacienty. Praktickou část tvoří průzkumný dotazník, kde bylo hlavním tématem komunikace s umírajícími pacienty a jeho blízkými. Prvním cílem praktické části bylo zjistit, jak vše-obecné sestry zvládají komunikaci s umírajícím pacientem a jeho blízkými. Druhým cílem bylo zjistit, zda jsou všeobecné sestry dostatečně vzdělané v poskytování paliativní péče. A třetím cílem bylo zjistit, jak se všeobecné sestry vyrovnávají s úmrtím pacienta.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis entitled "Problems of palliative care from the nurse's point of view" is divided into two parts. In the beginning, the theoretical part deals with the defini-tion of palliative care, the origin and development of palliative care, basic aspects and forms of palliative care. The next chapter is devoted to hospices, forms of hospice care and hospices in the Czech Republic. In the next chapter, the issues of death and dying, the period of dying and its phases are discussed, and it also includes the needs of dying pa-tients. The following chapter deals with the phase of acceptance of serious diagnoses ac-cording to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. And the last chapter is devoted to communication with seriously ill and dying patients. The practical part consists of a survey questionnaire, where the main topic was communication with dying patients and their loved ones. The first goal of the practical part was to find out how nurses generally manage communication with a dying patient and his loved ones. The second aim was to find out whether general nurses are sufficiently educated in the provision of palliative care. And the third aim was to find out how general nurses deal with the death of a patient.
