The potential of railway to reduce CO2 emissions from transport

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca skúma potenciál železnice v ČR za účelom zníženia emisií CO2 z dopravy. Teoretická časť práce popisuje základné pojmy ako emisie v doprave, modal split krajiny, zároveň čo je to kapacita železničných tratí, spotrebu energie v doprave, čo sú to VRT a pohľad do zahraničia. Analýza sa zaoberá výpočtom emisií na oskm/tkm s cieľom porovnania jednotlivých druhov dopravy. Návrhová časť práce na základe analýzy zhrňuje návrhy na využitie potenciálu železnice z pohľadu emisií pre štát, manažéra infraštruktúry a pre dopravcov.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis examines the potential of railways in the Czech Republic to reduce CO2 emissions from transport. The theoretical part of the thesis describes basic ideas such as transport emissions, modal split of the country, also what is the capacity of railway lines, energy consumption in transport, what is HSR and a look abroad. The analysis deals with the calculation of emissions per pkm/tkm to compare different modes of transport. Based on the analysis, the suggestion part of the thesis summarises proposals for exploiting the potential of rail in terms of emissions for the state, the infrastructure manager, and the transport operators.
