Structure and economic activity of imprisoned persons in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je posoudit strukturu a ekonomickou aktivitu vězněných osob v ČR. V první části je pozornost upnuta na vymezení vězeňství v rámci bezpečnosti, trestné činy a systém trestů a na vývoj vězeňství na území ČR. Druhá část charakterizuje Vězeňskou službu ČR, její činnost a organizační jednotky. V poslední části je provedena analýza struktury a ekonomické aktivity vězněných osob, dále jsou znázorněny výše pohledávek za vězni v aktuálním stavu a za propuštěnými vězni. Analýza je provedena za období v letech 2012 až 2021. Z analýzy vyplývá, že výrazný pokles počtu vězněných osob nastal v roce 2013, kdy proběhla prezidentská amnestie, následně počty opět narostly. Dále lze konstatovat, že k určitému poklesu počtu odsouzených také došlo během pandemie COVID-19.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to evaluate the structure and economic activity of prisoners in the Czech Republic. In the first part, attention is focused on the definition of prisons in terms of security, crimes and punishment system, and on the development of prisons in the Czechia. The second part characterizes the Prison Service of the Czechia, its activities and organizational components. In the last part is carried out an analysis the structure and economic activity of imprisoned person and there is show the amount of receivables for prisoners in the current state and for released prisoners. The analysis is carried out for the period from 2012 to 2021. The analysis shows that a significant decrease in the number of imprisoned persons occurred in 2013, when the presidential amnesty took place. Afterward the numbers had increased again. Furthermore, it can be stated that a certain decrease in the number of convicts also occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.
