Assessment of the effectiveness of the adult probation program

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem evaluace probačního programu z hlediska jeho efektivity/přínosu. Cílem práce je zjistit názory realizátorů a účastníků programu na efektivitu/přínos vzhledem k implementaci, vytyčeným cílům a očekávaným výsledkům programu, také k zisku benefitů pro jeho účastníky. Práce je rozdělena do tří částí. První část je zaměřena na teoretická východiska resocializace osob, jež byly odsouzeny za trestnou činnosti do výkonu trestu odnětí svobody, proces implementace a evaluaci probačního programu. V práci je použita kvalitativní výzkumná strategie. Sběr dat byl uskutečněn za pomocí tří nástrojů, jimiž byly polostrukturované rozhovory, otevřené zúčastněné pozorování a sekundární analýza dat a dokumentů. Ve druhé části práce, tj. empirické části bylo na základě výzkumu zjištěno, že probační program je implementován tak, jak bylo plánováno a v praxi jsou realizovány všechny aktivity a výstupy, které vedou k naplňování cílů a očekávaných výsledků programu. Probační program také přináší účastníkům benefity. Třetí část tvoří návrh doporučení.

Abstract:

The Thesis addresses the topic of the evaluation of the probation program with the focus on its effectiveness and benefit. The aim of the Thesis is to discover the opinions of the implementers and participants on the effectiveness/benefits of the program regarding the implementation, set goals and expected results, as well as obtained benefit for its participants. The Thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is focused on the theoretical background of the resocialization of persons, who have been convicted of criminal offenses to imprisonment, and the process of implementation and evaluation of the probation program. Qualitative research strategy is used in this Thesis. Data were collected by using three tools: semi-structured interviews, open participatory observation and secondary analysis of data and documents. In the second part (the empirical part), the research was founded that the probation program is implemented as planned. All planned activities and outputs that leads to achievement of goals and expected results of the program are implemented. The probation program also brings benefits to participant. The third part proposes a recommendation.
