Comparison of women's return from parental leave to the labor market in the private and public sector

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá návratem žen z rodičovské dovolené a snaží se nalézt odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku, která zní: „Jaké jsou hlavní rozdíly v návratu žen z rodičovské dovolené na trh práce ve státním a soukromém sektoru?“ Práce je rozdělena do tří částí. První teoretická část vystihuje poměry a faktory související s rodičovskou dovolenou, nastiňuje podmínky žen na trhu práce a charakterizuje opatření pro harmonizaci práce a rodiny s důrazem na možnosti na straně zaměstnavatelů. Druhá metodologická část popisuje zvolenou metodu kvalitativního výzkumu a vymezuje dílčí výzkumné otázky sloužící jako podklad pro polostrukturovaný rozhovor s respondentkami obou sektorů. Třetí empirická část analyzuje sesbíraná data a vymezuje závěry, které porovnává s teoretickými poznatky. Srovnání návratu žen z rodičovské dovolené zpět k vybraným zaměstnavatelům soukromého a státního sektoru poukázalo na větší flexibilitu a vyšší výkonovou orientaci na straně soukromé sféry a rigiditu a pevnou pracovní dobou na straně sféry státní.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with women returning from parental leave and try to find an answer to the key question, which is: "What are the main differences in the women returning from parentel leave to the labor market in the state and the private sector?" The work is divided into three parts. The first part describes the theoretical conditions and factors related to parental leave, outlining the conditions of women in the labor market and highlights measures to harmonize work and family, with an emphasis on options for employers. The second methodological part describes the chosen method of qualitative research and defines the individual research questions served as the basis for semi-structured interviews with respondents in both sectors. The third empirical part analyzes the collected data and defines conclusions, which compares with theoretical knowledge. Comparison of women’s return from parentel leave back to selected employers of private and public sector pointed to greater flexibility and higher performance orientation on the part of the private sector and the rigidity and fixed working hours on the part of the state sector.
