The influence of ecological taxation on the production of greenhouse gases in the European Union states

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje vlivu ekologických daní na produkci skleníkových plynů v zemích Evropské Unie. První část si klade za cíl souhrnně pojmout problematiku globálního oteplování a možnosti a nástroje států, které lze využít při boji proti zvyšování průměrné teploty Země. V druhé části se práce věnuje rozdělení daní, identifikaci jejich různých forem použití v rámci enviromentálních politik a představení současného stavu poznání vlivu ekologického zdanění na životní prostředí. V další části je představen panelový model využitý v ekonometrické analýze a data použitá pro analýzu. Výsledky analýzy a diskuse práci uzavírají. Cílem práce je analyzovat vliv daní vlivu daňového zatížení na množství emitovaných skleníkových plynů v zemích Evropské Unie. Zjišťuji, že předpokládaný negativní vliv model nepotvrdil. S každým 1 eurem daně na člověka ročně vzroste o 3 kg na jedince roční produkce ekvivalentů CO2, avšak sledovaná trendová složka obsahující posun názorů na globální oteplování a přijatelnost nákladu ekologických daní snižuje ročně produkci o 207 kg na člověka.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is devoted to the influence of environmental taxes on the production of greenhouse gases in the countries of the European Union. The first part aims to comprehensively understand the issue of global warming and the possibilities and instruments of the states that can be used in the fight against the increase in the average temperature of the earth. In the second part, the work is devoted to the distribution of taxes, the identification of their various forms of use within environmental policies and the presentation of the current state of knowledge of the impact of ecological taxation on the environment. The next part presents the panel model used in the econometric analysis and the data used for the analysis. The results of the analysis and discussion close the work. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the effect of taxes on the amount of greenhouse gases emitted per individual in the countries of the European Union. I find that the assumed negative influence was not confirmed by the model. With every 1 euro of tax per person per year, the annual production of CO2 equivalents increases by 3 kg per person, but the monitored trend component containing the shift in opinions about global warming and the acceptability of the burden of environmental taxes reduces the production by 207 kg per person per year.
