The role and the effectiveness of the U.S. visa system with a concentration on the threat of terrorism and illegal immigration

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vízovým systémem Spojených států amerických. Hlavním cílem práce je zhodnotit bezpečnostní charakter současného vízového systému USA a jeho efektivnost v boji s terorismem a nelegální imigrací. Teoretická část práce definuje základní bezpečnostní pojmy, popisuje současný bezpečnostní systém Spojených států a zasazuje do něj vízový systém. Praktická část práce je zaměřena na úlohu vízového systému v útocích 11. září a porovnává jí se současnou situací. Určuje také úlohu víz v boji s nelegální imigrací, se zaměřením na překročení doby platnosti víz.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the visa system of the United States of America. The aim of this thesis is to assess the security feature of contemporary visa system and his effectiveness in the struggle against terrorism and illegal immigration. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic security concepts. It describes contemporary security system of the U.S. and sets the visa system into it. The practical part deals with the role of the visa system in 11/9 terrorist attacks and compare it to the current situation. It also analyses the role of visas in the struggle against illegal immigration with a concentration on the problem of overstays.
