Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce s názvem „Domácí úkol ve výuce anglického jazyka na střední škole“ je prezentovat a zpětně vyhodnotit soubor diferenciovaných domácích úkolů, jejichž cílem je posílit samostatnost studentů a pomoci při rozvoji jejich komunikační kompetence. Teoretická část se zabývá zejména problematikou domácího úkolu ve výuce jazyků, konkrétně pak přináší stručný přehled historického a současného pojetí domácího úkolu a jeho výhody i nevýhody. Dále jsou představeny přístupy a metody potřebné k vytváření efektivního domácího úkolu a výsledky výzkumu vlivu domácího úkolu na studijní výsledky žáků. Následující kapitoly se zabývají vybranými problémy z oblasti autonomie žáků a diferenciace mezi nimi. Praktická část obsahuje detailní popis a zhodnocení vybraných diferenciovaných domácích úkolů a klade si za cíl potvrdit, že takto vytvářené domácí úkoly pomáhají žákům stát se samostatnějšími a nezávislejšími při procesu osvojování jazyka a dále také dokázat, že takto formulované domácí úkoly mají za následek rozvoj komunikační kompetence žáků.

Abstract:

The aim of the diploma thesis "Homework in English Language Teaching at Secondary School" is to introduce and retrospectively evaluate a set of differentiated homework tasks designed to strengthen learners' autonomy and to help develop their communicative competence. In the theoretical part, primary focus is on the issue of homework in language teaching, more specifically on a summary of historic and current attitudes towards homework and its benefits and drawbacks. Furthermore, effective ways of designing homework tasks are introduced and research results concerning its effect on learners’ academic performance are presented. The following chapters deal with selected areas of learner autonomy and differentiation among language learners which serve as necessary theoretical background for the research. The practical part includes detailed description and evaluation of various differentiated homework tasks and aims at proving that such tasks will help learners become more autonomous and independent in language learning as well as that it will have positive impact on development of their communicative competence.
