The influence of personality factors on adolescents risk behavior

Abstract:

Závěrečná práce zabývající se vlivem osobnostních rysů na rizikové chování adolescentů je zaměřena na popis a porozumění faktorů, ovlivňující vznik rizikového chování v období adolescence. V teoretické části se čtenář může seznámit se stěžejními pojmy, které slouží k tvorbě uceleného pohledu na oblast adolescence, rizikového chování a příčinami jeho vzniku. Hlavním výzkumným cílem závěrečné práce je zjistit u žáků Střední odborné školy Jana Tiraye Velká Bíteš výskyt a rozložení osobnostních rysů představujících riziko z hlediska užívání návykových látek. Na souboru žáků školy v adolescentním věku byl aplikován screeningový dotazník SURPS (Substance Use Risk Profile Scale), který je diagnostickým nástrojem metody Preventure. Tento dotazník slouží k identifikaci čtyř osobnostních rysů, a to přecitlivělosti, impulzivity, negativního myšlení a vyhledávání vzrušení. Na základě srovnání daných výsledků s populačními normami byli identifikováni žáci nacházející se v rizikovém pásmu, se kterými je poté vhodné zahájit adekvátní intervenci. Z výsledků dotazníkového šetření vyplývá, že žáci střední školy se potýkají především s vysokou mírou negativního myšlení, což může narušovat jejich spokojenost i pohled do budoucna. V návaznosti na výsledky práce jsou diskutované možnosti prevence.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the influence of personality traits on risk behavior of adolescents and is focused on the description and understanding of factors influencing the emergence and development of the risk behavior in adolescence.In the theoretical part, the reader can get acquainted with the key terms that serve to create a comprehensive view of adolescence, risk behavior and the causes of its occurrence. The main research goal of the thesis is to find out the presence and distribution of personality traits posing a risk from the perspective of the use of addictive substances among the student population of Secondary Vocational School of Jan Tiray in Velká Bíteš. The SURPS (Substance Use Risk Profile Scale) screening questionnaire, which is a diagnostic tool for the Preventure method, was applied to the adolescent school age group. This questionnaire serves to identify four personality traits, namely hypersensitivity, impulsivity, negative thinking, and thrill-seeking. When these results were compared with population standards, particular pupils from the risk zone were identified and adequate intervention with them could be initiated. The results of the questionnaire survey show that secondary school pupils are mainly faced with a high degree of negative thinking, which can disturb their satisfaction and future perspective. When we follow the results of the questionnaire survey, the possibilities of prevention are discussed.
