The influence of active break light size on reaction time of a driver.

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na ověření vlivu velikosti aktivní plochy brzdových světel na reakční dobu řidiče silničního vozidla za stanovených reálných situací a je rozdělena na dvě části. První teoretická část se zabývá vývojem zadního osvětlení vozidel a legislativou týkající se brzdových a obrysových světel včetně existujících současných řešení. Dále je popsáno zrakové vnímání a reakční doba řidiče včetně vybraných faktorů ovlivňujících reakční dobu řidiče. Druhá část práce se věnuje experimentálnímu měření rozdílu reakční doby řidiče vzhledem k velikosti aktivní plochy brzdových světel. Reakční doba je měřena pro dvě velikosti aktivních ploch brzdových světel, přičemž jsou stanoveny dvě podmínky: přímý pohled a odklon pohledu. Výsledky měření jsou následně porovnány a vyhodnoceny. Cílem práce je základní experimentální ověření do jaké míry ovlivňuje velikost aktivní plochy brzdového světla reakční dobu řidiče.

Abstract:

The theses is focused on the influence verification of the break lights' active surface on the vehicle driver's reaction time under stating real situations. It is divided into two parts. The first theoretic part describes the vehicle rear light development and the legislation concerning break and contour lights including existing contemporary solutions. Further there are described sight perception and a driver's reaction time including representative influencing factors with the impact on the driver's reaction time. The second part is dedicated to the experimental measurement of the driver's reaction time difference related to the size of break lights' active surface. The reaction time is measured for two sizes of break lights' active surface where two conditions are given: straight look and look diversion. The measurement results are afterwards compared and assessed. The objective of the theses is to verify experimentally the scope of break lights' active surface size impact on the driver's reaction time.
