Positive potential of clients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia

Abstract:

Předložená disertační práce je zaměřena na hledání možných pozitivních souvislostí v chápání schizofrenie v souladu s holistickým pojetím a usiluje o rozšíření této problematiky o další významnou perspektivu. Vychází z dostupné literatury, výzkumu a praktických zkušeností s klienty s touto diagnózou a pojednává o dvou hlavních oblastech – kreativitě a spiritualitě v souvislosti se schizofrenií. Hlavní výzkumnou otázkou této disertační práce bylo zjistit „Jaké možnosti využití pozitivního potenciálu klientů s diagnózou schizofrenie při podpoře jejich integrace vyplývají pro sociální pracovníky z mé dosavadní zkušenosti a výzkumu?“ Práce se rovněž zaměřuje na možnosti využití zjištěných poznatků o pozitivním potenciálu klientů s diagnózou schizofrenie v sociální práci z hlediska terapeutického paradigmatu sociální práce. Nabízí například možnosti expresivní terapie jako metody využití uměleckého potenciálu a potřeby sebevyjádření klientů a spirituálně senzitivní přístup v sociální práci jako metody využití duchovního potenciálu klientů. Empirická část se skládá ze tří samostatných ovšem na sebe navazujících výzkumů, které odráží různé pohledy na danou problematiku. První výzkum je založen na sebereflexi mé práce s klienty, druhý vychází z výpovědí sociálních pracovníků a terapeutů a třetí interpretuje názory samotných klientů.

Abstract:

This dissertation thesis is focused on identifying possible positive links in the understanding of schizophrenia in accordance with a holistic concept and seeks to extend this issue with another significant perspective. It is based on available literature, research and practical experience with clients with this diagnosis and discusses two main areas - creativity and spirituality in the context of schizophrenia. The main research question of the thesis is „What possibilities of use of a positive potential of clients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia arise for social workers when supporting their integration based on my own experience and research?” The thesis also concentrates on possibilities of using the findings of a positive potential of clients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia in social work in terms of therapeutic paradigm of social work. It suggests possibilities such as an expressive therapy as a method of the use of a creative potential and the need of self-expression of clients and a spiritually sensitive approach in social work as a method of the use of a spiritual potential of clients. The empirical part consists of three separate but consecutive researches, reflecting different views on the issue. The first research is based on self-reflection of my work with clients, the second is based on responds of social workers and therapists and the third interprets opinions of clients themselves.
