The potential for Big Data in the logistics

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je vymezení pojmů logistiky, Big Data a ověření možnosti využití Big Data pro optimalizaci v logistice. Výsledkem práce je aplikace výsledků Big Data analýzy na konkrétním dodavatelském řetězci v logistice automobilové značky ŠKODA AUTO a. s., kde pomocí dosažených výsledků z této analýzy dochází k odhalení prostoru pro optimalizaci fungování dodavatelského řetězce pro řízení věrnosti dodávek. Současně je porovnán starý způsob opatření oproti novému způsobu s využitím platformy Big Data v logistice. Hlavním závěrem vyplývajícím z výsledků práce je potvrzení, že za pomocí propojení Big Data a logistiky, respektive dat z jejich systémů, lze nalézt a monitorovat ve vybraných řetězcích případnou neefektivitu a její trendy.Diplomová práce je strukturována do celkem 6 kapitol (včetně Úvodu a Závěru), přičemž první tři kapitoly jsou věnovány definici nezbytné teorii a základnímu přehledu v oblastech logistiky, Big Data a současném využívání Big Data v logistice. Další kapitoly popisují implementaci projektu „Big Data – Řízení věrnosti dodávek“ do logistiky automobilové společnosti ŠKODA AUTO a. s.

Abstract:

The main goal of the Master thesis is to tackle the terms used in logistics, Big Data and its evaluation and usage for the logistics optimization. The outcome is applying the results of Big Data analysis on a specific company – ŠKODA AUTO, a. s., operating in an automobile industry. Thanks to that, it reveals areas where the delivery chain can be optimized. For a better overview, the comparison in between the old and the new Big Data logistics platform is also a part of this work.The conclusion based on the results of the work is a confirmation that thanks to the relation between Big Data and logistics, it allows to discover and monitor trends or possible inefficiency.The Master thesis is divided into 6 chapters, including the Introduction and Conclusion, wherein the first three chapters are dedicated to the necessary theory and the general summary of the logistics, Big Data and its usage in logistics. The following chapters are describing the implementation of the project „Big Data – the Delivery management“, into the ŠKODA AUTO a. s.
