Roma in the labor market from the perspective of the employer

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá situací Romů na trhu práce, přičemž se zaměřuje na zjištění pohledu ze strany zaměstnavatele, významného aktéra na trhu práce. Cílem této práce je zodpovězení hlavní výzkumné otázky, která zní: „Jaké názory zaujímají vybraní zaměstnavatelé vůči situaci Romů na trhu práce?“ Práce je rozdělena do tří celků. Teoretická část se představuje romskou menšinu, její charakteristiky a současnou situaci na trhu práce. Součástí teoretické části je představení pojmu trhu práce a jeho souvislostí, přičemž uvádím faktory ovlivňující možnosti uplatnění jedince na trhu práce. Jednu ze součástí mé diplomové práce tvoří také metodologická část, ve které shrnuji cíle a záměry své práce, operacionalizuji hlavní výzkumnou otázku, přičemž provádím a zdůvodňuji volbu výzkumné strategie a metodu výzkumu a popisuji organizaci výzkumu. Poslední část diplomové práce tvoří část empirická, která seznamuje se zjištěnými výsledky výzkumu a závěry z nich vyplývajícími. Na základě provedeného výzkumu je v závěru práce formulována odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku. Z výzkumu vyplývá, že zaměstnavatelé považují situaci Romů na trhu práce za nepříznivou, přičemž však odpovědní za tuto situaci jsou dle výpovědí zaměstnavatelů Romové sami. Jako hlavní faktor způsobující nepříznivou situaci na trhu práce byla zaměstnavateli chápána nízká vzdělanost. Problém vysoké nezaměstnanosti Romů a jejich nepříznivé situace na trhu práce by měl dle názoru zaměstnavatelů řešit stát a společnost, ale pouze v omezené míře.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the situation of Roma in the labor market, focusing on finding the perspective of the employer, a major player in the labor market. The aim of this thesis is to answer the main research question, which is: „What are the opinions of the employers on the situation of Roma in the labor market?” The diploma thesis is divided into three parts. The theoretical part presents the Roma minority, its characteristics and the current situation on the labor market. In the theoretical part there is also introduced the concept of the labor market and its context and factors influencing the possibilities of the application on the labor market. One part of my thesis makes the methodological section, which summarizes the aims and objectives and operationalizes the main research question, while doing a justification of the research strategy and methods of research and describes the organization of research. The last part is an empirical part that introduces the identified research results and conclusions arising from them. Research results suggest that employers consider the situation of Roma in the labor market unfavourable, but responsible for this situation is Roma themselves. The main factor causing the unfavourable labor market situation was according to employer low education. The problem of high unemployment among Roma and their unfavourable situation in the labor market should be solved in the opinion of employers with state and society, but only to a limited extent.
