Cílem této bakalářské je analyzovat vyobrazení Portoričanů a gangů v New Yorku v americkém muzikálu West Side Story z přelomu 50. a 60. let 20. století. Teoretická část práce se zabývá historickým a kulturním pozadím imigrantů a zkoumá New York v první polovině 20. století. Praktická část obsahuje představení muzikálu a jeho tvůrců.
