Institutional help for families with handicapped children

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou institucionální pomoci rodinám s dětmi se zdravotním postižením a je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část výzkumnou. Teoretická část je složena ze tří kapitol. První kapitola v úvodu vymezuje a stručně charakterizuje konkrétní typy postižení (dětskou mozkovou obrnu a kombinované postižení), dále se pak věnuje rodině postiženého dítěte a jejím funkcím, přijetí postižení dítěte a procesu vyrovnávání se s postižením. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na postoje společnosti ke zdravotně postiženým lidem a na poskytování pomoci rodině s dítětem se zdravotním postižením jednak ze strany blízkého okolí včetně svépomocných skupin a také ze strany odborníků v rámci pomoci psychoterapeutické, léčebné, výchovné a vzdělávací a sociální. Ve třetí kapitole se pak snažím podat přehled a vymezení institucí poskytující služby dětem se zdravotním postižením a jejich rodinám. Výzkumná část diplomové práce je zaměřena na charakteristiku cílů, metodiky výzkumu, zkoumaného souboru a také na prezentaci výsledků výzkumu včetně jejich interpretace, diskuze a komparace s dalšími výzkumy, které byly provedeny na obdobné téma. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit subjektivní názor rodičů zdravotně postižených dětí na nabídku a kvalitu poskytovaných služeb a také zmapovat sociálně podpůrný systém rodin s dětmi se zdravotním postižením z hlediska jeho struktury a z hlediska formy poskytované pomoci. Dílčím cílem bylo také zjistit, zda se rodiče aktivně zapojují do činností ve vybraných službách.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with problems of the institutional help for families with handicapped children and is divided into the theoretical part and the research part. The theoretical part consists of three chapters. In the introduction of the first chapter there are defined and shortly characterised concrete types of handicaps (child cerebral palsy and combined handicap). The rest of the thesis attends to the handicapped child's family and its functions, to the acceptance of child's handicap and the process of settlement with the handicap. The second chapter is aimed at society's attitudes towards handicapped people and at providing help for family with handicapped child, on the one hand from the near surroundings including bootstrap groups, on the other hand from specialists within the frame of psychoterapeutic, medical, educational, pedagogical and social help. In the third chapter I'm trying to give the survey and definition of institutions providing services to the handicapped children and their families. The research part of the thesis deals with the characterization of the targets, methodology of research and surveyed collection, and also with the presentation of the results of the research including their interpretation, discussion and comparison with other researches that were made on the similar theme. The goal of the research was to find out the subjective opinion of the handicapped children's parents on the offer and quality of provided services and also to map the socially promotive system of the families with handicapped children in light of its structure and form of provided help. The partial goal was to find out if the parents actively participate in chosen services.
