Instructive Piano Literature of the 20th Century

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá hudebně teoreticko-pedagogickou interpretací vybraných sbírek instruktivní klavírní literatury 20. století. Jejím cílem je rozdělit tuto širokou oblast do několika skupin skladeb vykazujících podobné rysy. Těmito skupinami jsou: 1/ instruktivní klavírní literatura respektující jazyk hudby 20. století, 2/ instruktivní klavírní literatura ovlivněná klasicko-romantickým hudebním myšlením, 3/ instruktivní klavírní literatura inspirovaná jazzem a 4/ instruktivní klavírní literatura ovlivněná populární hudbou. Těžiště práce tvoří první skupina instruktivní literatury, která je tradičně ve výuce klavírní hry opomíjena, nahrazována v repertoáru žáků především instruktivní klavírní literaturou ovlivněnou klasicko-romantickým hudebním myšlením. K této skutečnosti vedou převážně osobní preference pedagogů, jejich dlouholetá zkušenost se skladbami napodobujícími starou hudbu a poměrně nekomplikovaný notový zápis těchto skladeb. Jedním z cílů práce je přiblížit pedagogům klavíru progresivní instruktivní klavírní literaturu respektující hudební řeč 20. století, představit jim kvalitní sbírky, které mohou vhodným způsobem uvést dítě do světa hudby 20. století, a seznámit tak žáky s prvky nové zvukové podoby hudby našeho století.

Abstract:

The doctoral thesis deals with a musical theoretical-pedagogical interpretation of chosen collections of instructive piano literature of the 20th century with the aim to divide this wide area into several groups of compositions showing the similar features. These groups are: 1/ instructive piano literature respecting the music language of the 20th century, 2/ instructive piano literature influenced by classical-romantic musical thinking, 3/ instructive piano literature inspired by jazz and 4/ instructive piano literature influenced by popular music. The focus of the thesis is on the first group of instructive literature which has traditionally been neglected in piano education and replaced by instructive piano literature influenced by classical-romantic musical thinking. The causes are various: personal teachers’ preferences, their long-time experience with the compositions imitating old music and rather uncomplicated music records of these compositions. One of the aims of the thesis is to introduce progressive instructive piano literature respecting the music language of the 20th century to piano teachers, acquaint them with high-quality collections which can introduce a child into the world of music of the 20th century in a suitable way, and thus present the features of a new sound image of the music of this century to pupils.
