Payment Card Acceptance

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou akceptace platebních karet a jejím cílem je navržení modelu zvyšující zisk z akceptace platebních karet a zároveň snižující riziko podvodů při akceptaci platebních karet. Cíl je formulován tak, aby byl snadno aplikovatelný pro zpracovatelské banky v České republice. Zároveň je v diplomové práci brán ohled na dostupné technologie a finanční možnosti českých bank. Diplomová práce dále popisuje historii platebních karet a jejich akceptace, pravidla pro akceptaci platebních karet, postup při provádění transakce platební kartou z hlediska obsluhy platebního terminálu, různé typy akceptace platebních karet, které jsou využívány v České republice, a současný stav a trendy oblasti přijímání platebních karet v České republice. Diplomová práce také obsahuje příklady nejčastějších škodních událostí vzniklých při akceptaci platebních karet a navrhuje způsoby jejich řešení, případně způsoby, jak jim banka může předcházet. Navrhovaná řešení a poznatky uvedené v diplomové práci vycházejí z momentální situace na trhu akceptace platebních karet a z praxe diplomantky v oboru.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the payment card acceptance and the aim is to propose a model of increasing profit from payment card acceptance as well as reducing the risk of fraud in payment card acceptance. The goal is formulated to be easily applicable to the acquiring banks in the Czech Republic. Concurrently in this thesis are taken into account available technologies, and financial opportunities for Czech banks. This thesis describes the history of payment cards and their acceptance, rules for the acceptance of payment cards, process of realizing of payment card transactions from side of service of payment terminal, various types of acceptance of payment cards, that are used in the Czech Republic, and the current situation and trends of the payment card acceptance in the Czech Republic. This thesis also contains examples of the most frauds arising from the acceptance of payment cards and proposes ways to resolve them, or ways they can be prevented by the bank. The proposed solutions and information mentioned in this thesis are based on current payment card acceptance market situation and on experience of the author in this sector.
