Response of parents to premature childbirth

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit a popsat, jakým způsobem reagují rodiče na předčasné narození jejich dítěte a jak je vnímána podpora rodičů ze strany ošetřovatelského týmu. Zjistit, zda existuje rozdíl v reakcích na předčasné narození dítěte u otců a matek a zda je vnímání podpory ze strany ošetřovatelského personálu odlišné. Dále zjistit, zda existuje rozdíl v reakcích rodičů, kde je matka zdravotnicky vzdělána, a rodičů, kde matka nemá zdravotnické vzdělání. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo záměrně vybraných 8 párů rodičů, jejichž dítě/děti se narodilo/y předčasně od 32+3 do 35+5 týdne gravidity a bylo/y hospitalizováno/y na jednotce intermediární péče. Jako metoda sběru dat byla použita forma individuálního polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. V pocitech všech rodičů dominoval šok a strach, ale také úleva a radost. Výpovědi otců a matek se lišily v uváděných pocitech, ve vnímání přístupu personálu, v problematice ztotožnění se s rodičovskou rolí a ve vnímání dostatku informací o stavu dítěte. Zdravotně vzdělané matky popisovaly své vzdělání v určitých situacích jako nevýhodu, v jiných naopak jako pozitivum.

Abstract:

The goal of the thesis is to describe the way parents react on preterm birth of their child and also parents´ perception of support received from a nursing team. The thesis tries to find out, whether the perception differs from a mother to a father and also whether mother?s medical education influences this perception. Eight parent couples, the child of whose was born in between 32+3 and 35+5 week of the gravidity and was hospitalized in the intermediate care unit, were surveyed using the method of individual semi-structured interview. The feelings of all parents were dominated by both shock and anxiety, but also by relief and happiness. Statements of fathers and mothers differed in mentioned impressions, perceived medical staff attitude, identification with the parental role and in perception of sufficiency of information about the child?s health condition. Medically educated mothers described their education as both advantage and disadvantage, depending on a situation.
