Participation of People over 50 in Further Education as a Part of Lifelong Learning

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá celoživotním vzděláváním, konkrétně účastí osob starších 50 let na vzdělávání. Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit vzdělávací potřeby osob starších 50 let. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část shrnuje dosavadní poznatky v kontextu celoživotního učení. Vysvětluje základní pojmy související s tématikou. Seznamuje s věkovou skupinou osob starších 50 let a jejími specifiky. Text popisuje přípravu osob na aktivní stárnutí, zabývá se vzdělávacími potřebami, motivací a výzvami, které jsou spojeny se vzděláváním jedinců této věkové skupiny, na základě odborné literatury domácích i zahraničních autorů. Praktická část se zabývá kvantitativním šetřením, zaměřeným na vzdělávací potřeby osob starších 50 let.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with lifelong learning, particularly the participation of people over 50 in education. The main goal of the study was to find out and specify the educational needs of people over 50. The thesis consists of two parts, a theoretical and an empirical one. The theoretical part summarizes existing knowledge in the field of lifelong learning. It explains the basic concepts, as well as terms related to the subject. It introduces the 50+ age group and its particularities. The text describes the preparation of the people for an active ageing, and focuses on the educational needs, motivation, and challenges which are typical of the education of people of this age group according to the Czech and foreign literature on this subject. The empirical part contains a quantitative research dealing with the educational needs of the over-50s.
