Home as a Place of Conflict

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá pojetím domova jakožto místa konfliktu. Takové pojetí domova se objevuje ve filosofických úvahách dvacátého století, a je v rozporu s chápáním domova jakožto místa bezpečí, o které je možné opřít vlastní integritu a identitu. V současných anglosaských filosofických reflexích se setkáváme s míněním, že domov je místem boje, a je zde nutné se čas od času spojit s někým dalším, utvořit tak koalici, abychom mohli v daném společenství "přežít". Práce se zaměří především na úvahy myslitelů Bonnie Hönig a Bernarda Williamse, na jejich chápání domova, konfliktu, identity i etiky.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the concept of home as a place of conflict. Such a concept of home appears in philosophical considerations of the twentieth century, and is contrary to the understanding of home as a place of safety, which can support our own integrity and identity. In the contemporary Anglo - Saxon philosophical reflections we can encounter with an opinion that home is a place of struggle, and from time to time it is necessary to form an alliance with someone else, to make a coalition, so we could "survive" in such a community. This thesis focuses mainly on the reflections of Bonnie Hönig and Bernard Williams, on their conception of home, conflict, identity and ethics.
