Liturgical monuments of Baroque goldsmithing in Moravia

Abstract:

Šest textů zařazených do rigorózní práce je malou částí výsledku víceletého průzkumu památek barokního zlatnictví na Moravě – Doklady církevního barokního zlatnictví a stříbrnictví na Moravě v letech 1650–1790 a jeho zhodnocení ve výtvarných a duchovních souvislostech – uskutečněného v letech 2015–2018, na nějž v roce 2019 navázal Výzkum a dokumentace dochovaných sakrálních zlatnických a stříbrnických památek brněnské provenience s přesahem na území celé Moravy. Jednou ze zájmových oblastí Národního památkového ústavu je poznávání movitého kulturního dědictví, kam patří též systematické dokumentování historických liturgických předmětů zhotovených z drahých (i obecných barevných) kovů, evidovaných v centrálním registru kulturních památek České republiky. Jelikož řada dochovaných precios byla zhotovena pro jiné církevní subjekty než dnešní vlastníky, nelze je správně historicky zařadit bez paralelního archívního průzkumu, často umožňujícího určit jejich původ vzniku a vlastnictví, i získat informace o přemísťování liturgických předmětů, zejména ze zrušených klášterů v 70. a 80. letech 18. století; to dokládá dvojice textů první části nazvané Barokní liturgické stříbro bývalé jezuitské koleje v Brně. O nepřetržitém působení zlatnických mistrů v Brně, nejméně od 40. let 14. století až do zrušení cechovního uspořádání v roce 1859, svědčí stovky jejich jmen, doložených archivním průzkumem, bohužel však nikoliv již produkcí, drtivou většinou zmizelou v nenávratnu. Výjimkou jsou pouze práce brněnských zlatníků doby baroka a 1. poloviny 19. století; dvěma z nich – Andreasi Vogelhundovi a Johanu Christianu Fischerovi, včetně dochované tvorby – je věnovaná část druhá, nazvaná Příspěvky k historii barokního zlatnického řemesla v Brně. Poslední kapitola – Fragmenty z historie moravsko-slezského zlatnictví – sdružuje články popisující historii zlatnictví ve vybraných městech Moravy a Slezska.

Abstract:

The six texts included in the rigorous thesis are a small part of the result of a multi-year survey of monuments of Baroque goldsmithing in Moravia – Evidence of Church Baroque goldsmithing and silversmithing in Moravia in 1650–1790 and its evaluation in artistic and spiritual contexts – carried out in 2015–2018. In 2019 he continued Research and Documentation of Preserved Sacral Goldsmiths and Silversmiths of Brno Provenance with an overlap on the territory of the whole of Moravia. One of the areas of interest of the National Heritage Institute is learning about movable cultural heritage, which also includes the systematic documentation of historical liturgical objects made of precious (and non-ferrous) metals, registered in the central register of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. Since many preserved precios were made for church entities other than today's owners, they cannot be properly historically classified without a parallel archival survey, often to determine their origin and ownership, and to obtain information on the relocation of liturgical objects, especially from abolished monasteries in the 70s and 80s. 18th century; this is evidenced by a pair of texts in the first part called Baroque Liturgical Silver of the former Jesuit College in Brno. The continuous work of goldsmiths in Brno, at least from the 1440s until the abolition of the guild arrangement in 1859, is evidenced by hundreds of their names, documented by archival research, but unfortunately no longer by production, the vast majority disappearing forever. The only exceptions are the works of Brno goldsmiths of the Baroque and the first half of the 19th century; two of them – Andreas Vogelhund and Johan Christian Fischer, including the surviving work – is the second part, entitled Contributions to the History of Baroque Goldsmithing in Brno. The last chapter – Fragments from the history of Moravian-Silesian goldsmithing – brings together articles describing the history of goldsmithing in selected cities of Moravia and Silesia.
