Crisis Communication of the Government of the Czech Republic during the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá krizovou komunikací vlády ČR v kontextu pandemie onemocnění covid-19. Práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních částí. Teoretická část shrnuje východiska oborů politické komunikace, politického marketingu a krizové komunikace se zaměřením na oblast veřejné správy. V praktické části je provedena analýza vládní krizové komunikace během koronavirové krize v roce 2020. Vyhodnoceno je vlastní dotazníkové šetření a data ze sekundárního výzkumu. Na základě zjištěných poznatků je v projektové části práce představen manuál krizové komunikace, který zahrnuje soubor doporučení k jednotlivým krokům strukturovaného komunikačního postupu vlády ČR v případě pandemického onemocnění.

Abstract:

This Master´s thesis studies the Czech government´s crisis communication in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This work is divided into three main parts. The theoretical section of the work summarizes key aspects of the academic areas of political communication, political marketing, and crisis communication with the focus on public administration. The practical section then goes deeper into analyzing the Czech government´s crisis communication during the coronavirus crisis. The study is limited to the year 2020 and the analysis looks at results of the author´s own conducted survey as well as data from secondary research. The data from the practical section serves as the basis of the project part of the thesis where the author puts forward a manual for crisis communication. The manual includes recommendations on structured crisis communication for the Czech government in a pandemic disease context.
