Comparison of cross-strait relations under the Democratic Progressive Party and after the elections in 2008

Abstract:

Cílem práce je porovnat vztahy mezi ČLR a Tchaj-wanem ve dvou po sobě jdoucích obdobích. V prvním období v letech 2000 až 2008, kdy byla u moci Demokratická pokroková strana, probíhá na Tchaj-wanu ústavní krize, která má zásadní vliv na vzájemné vztahy. Nedůvěra Pekingu vůči novému prezidentovi má za příčinu silné ochlazení vztahů hlavně na politické úrovni. Ekonomická a kulturní spolupráce není politickým děním nějak zasažena a velmi příznivě se vyvíjí. Po znovupřevzetí moci Kuomintangem po volbách v roce 2008 se vztahy velmi rychle zlepšují, svůj podíl na tom má hlavně spolupráce Kuomintangu s Komunistickou stranou Číny. Znovu je navázán dialog mezi vládními agenturami pro vzájemné vztahy, na bázi jednání těchto agentur je uzavřeno mnoho dohod, které umožňují prohlubování spolupráce hlavně na ekonomické a kulturní úrovni. V tomto období dochází k historickému zlepšení vztahů.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to compare the relationship between the People's Republic of China and Taiwan in two consecutive seasons. In the first period from 2000 to 2008, when the Democratic Progressive Party was in power, is Taiwan in constitutional crisis, which has a major impact on mutual relations. Beijing's distrust towards the new president is the cause of the strong cooling of relations especially at the political level. Economic and cultural cooperation is not affected by the political events and develops very positively. After Kuomintang toke over the power after elections in 2008, relations improved rapidly, cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China contributes to that. The dialogue between government agencies for mutual relations is established again, based on the actions of these agencies is concluded many agreements that allow the deepening of cooperation mainly on economic and cultural level. At this time there is a historic improvement in relations.
