Social networking websites in museums. Analysis of selected institutions.

Abstract:

Tato práce poskytuje počáteční náhled do oblasti sociálních sítí v muzeích, avšak v omezeném rozsahu. Věnuje se charakteristice sociálních sítí, jejich vývoji i profilům uživatelů. Popisuje také vývoj muzeí na sociálních sítích a to, proč by muzea vůbec měla tento způsob propagace využívat. Primární zaměření je na jednu z vybraných sociálních sítí, a to Facebook, kterému je věnována významnější část práce. Facebook je v současnosti nejvyužívanější sociální sítí s největším počtem uživatelů, a proto bude popsán podrobněji. Dalšími vybranými sítěmi budou Twitter a YouTube vzhledem k jejich odlišnosti, kterou můžeme shledat ve sdílení krátkých zpráv (Twitter) a sdílení videí (YouTube). V praktické části pak bude popsána aktivita vybraných institucí na zmíněných sociálních sítích. Příspěvky institucí, které byly publikovány, budou analyzovány dle předem určených parametrů. Porovnáním příspěvků na sociálních sítích a srovnáním institucí mezi sebou vznikne vyhodnocení, jehož cílem bude zjistit, jaké jsou nejlepší praktiky pro práci se sociálními sítěmi, na co fanoušci muzea reagují a jak je nejlépe zaujmout.

Abstract:

This thesis is dealing with social networking websites in museums. For the purpose of this thesis five museums were selected. The thesis is describing why museums should even use social sites. It is also simply describing how of each selected social site works and what kind of users are using them so the museums can adjust their communication. In the second part each selected museum was analyzed on each social site and from that comparison recommendations were made. On each selected social site, the museum´s posts were analyzed according to set criteria, such as number of posts and their content, time and day of posts, their type etc. From this analysis it became clear that each criteria relates with each other and it´s not possible to follow only the best time for posting or the best type of post. And even if those recommendations are followed it can´t guarantee success of the post. However, there are general advices which can be found in this thesis
