A probe into the physical activity of a primary school class

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá pohybovou aktivitou žáků třetí třídy 1. stupně základní školy. Jejím cílem je systematicky pozorovat pohybové aktivity žáků během pobytu ve škole a shromáždit relevantní poznatky týkající se této problematiky. V teoretické části práce je charakterizován školní pohybový režim, jeho formy, základní charakteristiky pohybové aktivity žáků a také osobnostní rysy vyučujících a jejich přístupy k pohybovým aktivitám žáků. Výzkumná část obsahuje podrobné záznamy vyučovacích hodin získané přímým strukturovaným pozorováním s evidencí všech pohybových aktivit zařazených do výuky i mimo ni. Na základě získaných výsledků lze konstatovat, že existuje prostor pro zlepšení v oblasti intenzity zatížení a trvání pohybových aktivit. Práce proto nabízí konkrétní doporučení, jak optimalizovat školní pohybový režim.

Abstract:

This thesis studies the physical activity of pupils of the third grade of primary school. It aims to contribute to this research area by presenting an overview of existing knowledge on this subject and by collecting and analysing data gathered via systematic observation of pupils‘ physical activity during school. The theoretical part of the thesis characterizes the school physical activity regime, its forms, the fundamental characteristics of pupils‘ physical activity, as well as the personality traits of teachers and their attitudes towards pupils‘ physical activities. The research part provides detailed records of lessons, obtained through direct structured observation and recording of all physical activities inside and outside the classroom. The final findings suggest that there is room for improvement in terms of the intensity and duration of physical activity in primary school. Hence, this thesis concludes by providing a set of specific recommendations on how to optimise the school physical activity regime.
