Abstract:
Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá roli internátních škol ve vzdělávání a „civilizování” amerických indiánů ve Spojených státech na přelomu 19. a 20. století. Jedná se o studii metod užívaných v institucích, jako byly například Carlisle, Haskell nebo Sv. Bonifác, a jejich vlivu na identitu a sebeurčení indiánů a jejich životní styl. Práce využívá primární zdroje i odbornou literaturu.

This thesis explores the role of the boarding school system established in the United States in the second half of the nineteenth century for the purpose of “educating” and “civilizing” Native American peoples.
