Applicability of applicants with a criminal history of employment in the Ústí nad Labem Region

Abstract:

Motivací této práce bylo zjištění, jak společnost v ČR reaguje na uchazeče o zaměstnání se záznamem v trestním rejstříku. Danou problematikou se zabývalo několik zahraničních studií, které pomocí experimentu zjistily, že existuje diskriminace uchazečů vlivem trestní minulosti. Cílem práce bylo pomocí experimentu zjistit, zda na trhu práce v Ústeckem kraji dochází k diskriminace osob se záznamem v trestním rejstříku. Celkem bylo odesláno 528 životopisů uchazečů ženského i mužského pohlaví se středoškolským a vysokoškolským vzděláním, polovina z odeslaných životopisů měla záznam v trestním rejstříku a druhá ne. Výsledky experimentu ukázaly, že existuje diskriminace těchto osob. Na úspěšné získání zaměstnání nemá u osob se záznamem v trestním rejstříku vliv pohlaví ani výše dosaženého vzdělání, bylo však prokázáno, že uchazeči se záznamem v trestním rejstříku byli úspěšnější, pokud se ucházeli o nevedoucí pozici. Práce bude může být využita jako zdroj pro studie, které zkoumají diskriminace uchazečů o zaměstnání se záznam v trestním rejstříku na trhu práce.

Abstract:

The motivation for this work was to find out how a society in the Czech Republic reacts to job applicants with a criminal record. Several foreign studies have addressed this issue, which have found out through experimentation that there is discrimination against applicants due to the criminal past. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether there is a discrimination on the labour market in the Ústí nad Labem region of persons with a criminal record with help of experiment. A total of 528 CVs of female and male candidates with secondary and tertiary education were sent, half of the CVs sent had a criminal record and the other did not. The results of experiment showed that there is discrimination against these people. Successful employment is not affected by gender or higher education for those with the criminal record, but it has been shown that candidates with a criminal record were more successful when applying for a non-leading position. The thesis can be used as a source for studies that examine discrimination against job applicants with a criminal record in the labour market.
