The February putch and consecutive legalization of criminal repression

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci jsem se pokusil zachytit vznik a vzrůstající vliv Komunistické strany Československa a to počínaje jejím ustavujícím sjezdem, přes pro komunisty významný V. sjezd strany, kdy se do jejího čela dostal Klement Gottwald a jeho „karlínští kluci“. Dále jsem se zaměřil na odboj komunistů za druhé světové války a jejich vzrůstající vliv. V další části své diplomové práce jsem se zaměřil na Košický vládní program, který znamenal větší moc v rukou komunistů a snížení počtu demokratických stran, které se v roce 1946 mohly zúčastnit ještě demokratických voleb. Po těchto volbách se do čela vlády dostal Klement Gottwald a komunisté obsadili klíčová ministerstva. V další části této práce jsem zachytil upevňování moci komunisty po vítězných volbách a vzrůstající teror vůči demokratické opozici a občanům, kteří nesympatizovali s komunistickou ideologií. Největší část této práce je zaměřena na vlastní únorový puč a následné represe, které směřovaly proti demokratickým stranám a svobodně smýšlejícím občanům. V této práci jsem zachytil hlavní aktéry únorových událostí a jejich osudy. Jsou zde popsány represe, které byly zaměřeny na celou tehdejší společnost. Nevyhnuly se ani vlastním řadám. Zde jsem se zaměřil na podchycení zákonů, které komunistům sloužily k ospravedlnění represí proti vlastnímu obyvatelstvu. Také jsem zde uvedl ústavu z května roku 1948 a články, které byly nejvíce porušovány nebo obcházeny. V poslední části jsem se zaměřil na upevňování moci komunisty a na teror, který rozpoutali vůči venkovskému obyvatelstvu. Práce je zakončena rozhovory s pamětníky represí z padesátých let a tabulkou, zachycující jednačtyřicetiletou vládu komunistů.

Abstract:

In my diploma work I tried to depict the establishment and growing influence of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, beginning with its establishment convention and including the fifth party assembly, important for the Communists, when Klement Gottwald and his “Karlín boys” got in the vanguard. I also focused on the Communist resistance during the World War II and their growing influence. In the next part of my diploma work I focused on the Government Platform of Košice, which ensured greater power for the Communists, and decrease in number of democratic parties that could participate in the still democratic election in 1964. After this election, Klement Gottwald got in the lead of government and the communists filled the key ministries. In the next part I recounted consolidation of power by the communists after the victorious election and the growing oppression of democratic opposition and those citizens, who did not sympathise with communistic ideology. The biggest part of this work is focused on the Putsch in February and the following repression, aimed against democratic parties and liberal-minded citizens. In this work I also depicted the main participants of the events in February and their fates. The repressions aimed at the whole society are described there. Not even their own ranks were spared. Here I focused on the laws that served as a justification for repressions of population. I also included the constitution of May 1948 and those articles that were violated or circumvented the most. In the last part I focused on consolidation of power by the communists and the terror aimed at rural population. The work is finished by interviews with eyewitnesses of the 1950s repressions and a chart of forty-one year long reign of the communists.
