Tracheostomy complications in the intensive care unit

Abstract:

Tracheostomická kanyla je nedílnou součástí práce na jednotkách poskytujících intenzivní péči. Podle zaměření pracoviště se všeobecné sestry s tracheostomickými kanylami setkávají buďto častěji, či sporadicky, což souvisí s jejich zkušenostmi v této oblasti a schopností předcházet možným komplikacím, eventuelně schopností na ně zareagovat. V teoretické části mé diplomové práce jsem představila tracheostomickou kanylu a její metody zavedení, stručný přehled péče o pacienta s tracheostomií a komplikace, které se u těchto pacientů mohou vyskytnout. Cílem empirické části práce bylo získat pohled všeobecných sester pracujících v intenzivní péči na problematiku tracheostomií na jejich pracovišti, jejich znalosti možných komplikací a jak případně výskyt akutní situace týkající se tracheostomické kanyly subjektivně vnímaly.

Abstract:

A tracheostomy tube is an integral part of work in intensive care units. Depending on the focus of the workplace, nurses encounter tracheostomy tubes either more often or sporadically, which is related to their experience in this area and their ability to prevent possible complications, or their ability to react to them. In the theoretical part of my diploma thesis, I presented the tracheostomy cannula and its insertions methods, a brief overview of the care of a patient with tracheostomy and the complications that can occur in these patients. The objective of the empirical part of the work was to obtain the perspective of nurses working in intensive care on the issue of tracheostomies at their unit, their knowledge of possible complications and how eventually subjectively perceive the occurrence of an acute situation related to tracheostomy.
