Occurrence of the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in People Working in Information Technology

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá výskytem syndromu karpálního tunelu u zaměstnanců pracujících v informačních technologiích. Teoretická část uvádí čtenáře do problematiky úžinových syndromů. Hlavní část tvoří souhrnné informace o syndromu karpálního tunelu, včetně etiologie, prevence a možnostech léčby. Pro komplexnost dané problematiky je zde zařazena kapitola o ergonomii pracovního místa. Praktická část se zaměřuje na diagnostiku. Ta probíhala formou výzkumu u skupiny třiceti zaměstnanců informačních technologií prostřednictvím osobního rozhovoru a klinického vyšetření. Výskyt syndromu karpálního tunelu byl zachycen u šesti zaměstnanců a výsledky poukazují na zvýšené riziko projevu příznaků v prvních osmi letech zaměstnání. Byla též vytvořena edukační brožura pro zaměstnance, která obsahuje charakteristiku dané problematiky a sérii cviků jako vhodnou prevenci.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with carpal tunnel syndrome incidence in employees working in the information technology field. The theoretical part introduces the reader to the issue of strait syndromes. The main part consists of summary information about carpal tunnel syndrome, including etiology, prevention and treatment options. Due to the issue is complexity, a chapter on workplace ergonomics is included here. The practical part focuses on diagnostics taken in the form of research on a group of thirty IT staff through a personal interview and clinical examination. The occurrence of carpal tunnel syndrome was detected in six employees, and the results indicate an increased risk of symptoms in the first eight years of employment. An educational brochure for employees was also created, which contains the characteristics of the issue and a series of exercises for suitable prevention.
