Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se snaží popsat a vysvětlit společenské, ekonomické a politické důsledky pro USA, které by přineslo postavení zdi na hranici Spojených Států a Mexika. Práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních částí. První část se zaměřuje na historii a současný stav Mexicko-Amerických vztahů a zároveň popisuje historii a současnost imigrační politiky Spojených Států Amerických. Druhá část se zaměřuje na prezidentskou kampaň Donalda Trumpa, jeho proti-imigrační rétoriku a snahu vzbudit strach z imigrace u svých podporovatelů. Také se zabývá imigrační politikou během jeho prezidentství a snahou najít finance na postavení zdi na hranici s Mexikem. Tato část také popisuje uzavření provozu státních institucí, armádní financování a snahu přimět Mexico o zaplacení zdi. Třetí část se zaměřuje na společenské důsledky, které postavení této zdi může mít na Spojené Státy, jejich občany a ekonomiku. Abstract:

This master’s thesis attempts to describe and explain the social, economic and political consequences the U.S.-Mexico border wall might have on the United States. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part focuses on the history and current state of the relationship between Mexico and the United States while also outlining the immigration policies the United States had over the years. The second part concentrates on the Donald Trump’s campaign filled with anti-immigrant rhetoric and his strategy to ignite fear in his supporters, the immigration policies that were passed during his presidency and his attempts to build and fund the border wall. It outlines the governmental shutdowns, military funding and the attempts to convince Mexico to pay for the wall. The third part deals with the social consequences this border wall might have on the United States, its citizens and economy.
