INSTITUTIONAL FRAME OF GENDERED APPROACH TO SECONDARY EDUCATION

Abstract:

Na princip rovnosti příležitostí žen a mužů můžeme pohlížet jako na soubor opatření, která jsou uplatňována a realizována k odstranění genderových nerovností ve společnosti. Netýkají se ale výhradně pouze pracovního trhu. Genderová nerovnost se vytváří a reprodukuje již ve vzdělanostním procesu. Zde stále dochází k genderové segregaci dívek a chlapců do těch kterých oborů a směrů. Tato práce mapuje problematiku rovného přístupu ke vzdělání, resp. genderově diferencovanou volbu, jenž stojí před žákyněmi a žáky základních škol při ukončování povinné školní docházky. Zejména se pak zaměřuje na institucionální rámec, jenž má spolu s ostatními oblastmi (rodina, vrstevníci aj.) výrazný vliv na výběr další vzdělanostní dráhy, v tomto případě střední školy/odborného učiliště. Tento institucionální rámec je tvořen institucemi školskými a zaměstnaneckými, které spolu vzájemně kooperují. Pro hledání odpovědi na výzkumnou otázku „Jaké institucionální faktory ovlivňují vzdělanostní segregaci dívek a chlapců“ jsem vycházela z realizovaných i právě probíhajících výzkumů na tomto téma podniknutých na českém poli. Práce dále definuje princip a provádění rovných příležitostí ve vzdělání v praxi. Pojednává rovněž o propojenosti vzdělanostní segregace s následnou segregací profesí na trhu práce, jenž spoluutváří pozici a hodnotu jedince na pracovním trhu.

Abstract:

The principle of equal opportunities for women and men may be regarded as a set of precautions which are applied to eliminate gender inequalities in society. However, they are not concerned exclusively with the job market. Gender inequalities are already created and reproduced during the education process in which girls and boys are segregated to orientate into certain fields. The thesis aims at equal opportunities in education, more precisely, a gender-motivated choice which schoolchildren in general face when finishing compulsory education. It is primarily concerned with an institutional frame which influences, together with the psychological environment (a family, peers etc.) the choice of a further educational career, i.e. secondary schools or training schools. The institutional frame consists of school and occupational institutions that co-operate. What became basic for a research question “What are institutional factors that influence segregation in girls’ and boys’ education?” were both already realized and current researches in this field conducted in the Czech Republic. The thesis is also concerned with activities of state and non-state institutions, which propose and accomplish policies of equal opportunities in education. Moreover, it handles with a connection between educational segregation and subsequent segregation at the job market, which contributes to a position and worth of an individual at the job market.
