Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá výukou prvopočátečního čtení v hodinách anglického jazyka. Práce vychází z osobní zkušenosti diplomantky s výukou čtení pomocí metody phonics v londýnské základní škole, kde se povinná školní docházka začíná ve stejném věku, jako v České republice předškolní rok v mateřské škole. The thesis focuses on teaching of elementary reading in English. It is based on the author´s personal experience with teaching literacy through the phonics method at a primary school in London where the compulsory school attendance starts at the age that corresponds to the pre-school age in the Czech Republic.
