Analysis of business development at a time of economic crisis

Abstract:

Předložená práce je zaměřena na analýzu aktuální hospodářské situace zkoumaného podniku pomocí tradičních metod finanční analýzy, bankrotních modelů a hodnocení prostřednictvím ukazatele EVA. Cílem práce je návrh možných zlepšení v činnosti a řízení společnosti V úvodu práce je teoreticky charakterizována finanční a hospodářská krize, dále pak je popsáno oborové prostředí zkoumané společnosti. Následuje stručné představení společnosti. Je uvedena vize a strategie společnosti. Dále pak je provedena vlastní finanční analýza společnosti STAFIN a.s. za sledované období 2006?2011. Každá kapitola je rozdělena na část teoretickou, kdy je obecně představen výpočet ukazatele a pak následuje jeho praktické využití na datech společnosti. Základními metodami je horizontální a vertikální analýza, analýza poměrových ukazatelů. K souhrnnému posouzení finančního zdraví je použito bankrotních modelů. Ke zhodnocení ekonomické situace je také použit výpočet ukazatele ekonomické přidané hodnoty (EVA). Jednotlivé výpočty a hodnocení jsou doplněny grafy, tabulkami a přílohami. Informace byly čerpány z odborné literatury a výkazů zkoumaného podniku. Závěr práce hodnotí celkové finanční zdraví analyzovaného podniku ve sledovaných letech 2006?2011 a předkládá doporučení ke zlepšení výkonnosti společnosti. Následují návrhy a doporučení v podobě implementace metody Balanced Scorecard a na aplikaci účetních opravných položek v případě pohledávek a rezerv na garanční opravy. Výstupy diplomové práce slouží pro finanční management společnosti jako ucelený pohled na vývoj hospodaření společnosti v průběhu vymezeného období. Návrhy a doporučení budou projednány samostatným bodem při jednání finančního managementu a představenstva společnosti při schvalování účetní závěrky za rok 2011.

Abstract:

The presented work is focused on analyzing the current economic situation of the examined company by means of conventional financial analysis, bankruptcy models and evaluation using the Economic Value Added indicator. The work is designed to outline possible improvements in business operations and in the company management. In the introductory part of the work, the theoretical principles of financial and economic crisis are presented, and further the branch of industry of the examined company is described. A brief introduction of the company follows. The vision and strategy of the company is described. The following part presents the financial analysis of the STAFIN company over the examined period 2006?2011. Each chapter is divided into theoretical part generally presenting the indicator formulas, followed by the practical use of the company data. The basic methods are the horizontal analysis, vertical analysis, and the ratio index analysis. The bankruptcy models are used to assess the overall financial health. The Economic Value Added indicator is used to assess the economic situation. Each of the formulas and assessments are supplemented by charts, tables and appendices. All the material for the work was gathered from technical literature as well as from the financial statements of the examined company. The final part evaluates the overall financial health of the analyzed company during the years 2006-2011 and makes recommendations to improve the company performance. Suggestions and recommendations follow in the form of the Balanced Scorecard implementation and for the application of accounting provisions in case of receivables and provisions for warranty repairs. The results of the thesis shall be used by the financial management of the company as a comprehensive overview of the economic development of the company during the specified period. Suggestions and recommendations shall be discussed during the financial management meeting and by the board of directors during approving the financial statements for the year 2011.
